Car buying South Africa

Drive Africa offers the best solution to long-term transport for visitors to South Africa in our Guaranteed Buy Back programme. The success of this programme is largely due to the difficulties associated with buying a pre-owned car privately in any foreign country, South Africa being no exception in this regard.

The procedure of making a used car purchase is fraught with many risks.

Although used cars are generally well priced, the many hidden costs accumulated tend to surface only after the deal is done. Many new owners of pre-owned cars realise afterwards that they should have dealt with someone who offers a guarantee. Any undisclosed problems can end up costing a great deal of money over and above the purchase price, with no recompense from the previous owner.

This is why the smarter option is to purchase a vehicle through Drive Africa. Our buy back guarantee means that you purchase a fully licensed, roadworthy, quality used vehicle from us. When you return home, we buy it back from you. No hassles, no catches – it’s really as simple as that!

However, if you do decide to purchase a car privately, we’d like to offer you some advice.

Take note of the following car buying tips and procedures:

Purchase

It is important to conclude a sales contract when buying a used car. Registration forms are available at the local traffic authorities. All used cars must pass a roadworthy test, which will cost about R 200.00.This test is best done at AA Test & Drive Centres, which are located around South Africa.

Payment

Normally you pay the purchase price cash or via bank transfer. It is important to keep the voucher. The voucher will allow you to transfer the money back to your account in your home country after you have sold the vehicle. Without this, you could have difficulty changing the South African Rands back into the currency of origin.

An international bank transfer takes approximately 4-6 days.

Registration

Within 21 days of signing the contract, the vehicle must be registered at the “Department of Licensing and Registration”.

For this you need the following documents:

For the registration you should plan 2-3 days.

Insurance

South Africa has no compulsory cover for vehicle damage. This means that some 70% of drivers are uninsured. Against this background, and keeping in mind the fact that repairs are very expensive in SA, it is advisable to obtain fully comprehensive insurance cover, or at least cover for Balance of Third Party, Fire and Theft. This is almost impossible to do without a permanent address in SA or without a local bank account. Being young also counts against you.

More Information

Give yourself enough time to market and sell the vehicle before your departure. The less time you have to sell the car, the lower the price you will have to accept. If necessary, sell your vehicle to a local dealer, even if you get a price under the market value.

When selling to a private person, it makes sense to take someone with you for added security. Don’t let the buyer do a test drive on his own. Only accept cash, and be weary of cheques, as these are easily forged.

For driving to Kenya or Tanzania, you need a Carnet de Passage, obtainable at the AA. To get it you need 100% deposit of the vehicle cost. Does your holiday budget allow this?

Summary

Buying a car in South Africa is time consuming and may delay the start of your holiday. That is why Drive Africa offers buy back guarantee vehicles that are fully insured and roadworthy. Purchasing a buy back car from Drive Africa means no unnecessary paperwork, long queues or time wasted. It is clearly the intelligent choice.

Find out the different ways of termination

It has been known to all of us that terminating a car lease is not as easy as the time you get in. It does matter where you lease your car, whether you lease cars from Frontier leasing or any other leasing company around, getting out of a car lease is not easy at all for it only means that you are backing out of the original lease contract.

However, if you are really decided to get out of your car lease contract, there are many possible ways to do it. One of the ways to end your lease is to return your leased car and pay the remaining lease amount. This is obviously not the best way to do it, for it will definitely cost you a lot. If you chose this way to end up your lease contract, your company might calculate your early termination cost in way that will end you up owing an amount larger than you thought.

Aside from the above mentioned way of ending a car lease contract, other ways include the lease transfer. Doing this is possible by finding someone who are willing to lease a car in a short period thus, willing assume your lease contract. With this method, all you have to spend is the transfer fee. You need not to pay for the penalties and other charges present in early termination. Before doing this, you still need to communicate with your leasing company and ask if they are allowing this method of getting out of your lease contract. This method can be one of the best, but the prospect lessee who will assume your contract must be approved first and must sign new lease papers.

If you have decided to take the lease transfer method in getting out of your car lease contract, you can seek for assistance to many of the lease transfer companies available online. They are more than happy to help searching for potential buyers of your car who are willing to continue the lease in your behalf by listing your car on their database. In addition to finding for the potential buyer, these lease transfer companies will also be of help with the lease assumption and the paperwork, thus less hassle on your side at a very reasonable price, which is far much lesser compared to the cost you will incur for an early termination.

All you have to do to get out of your car lease contract is to find for the reputable and reliable lease transfer company and the rest will probably be history as they take charge of the assumption process and the paperwork.

New Technology Sells Cars

Most motor manufacturers strive to design their vehicles so they are more appealing and roadworthy than their competitors. Consumers nowadays are more demanding than ever, wanting good looks, superior driving quality, efficient fuel consumption as well as high safety ratings. In order to sell in this competitive market place, the motor manufacturers have to get their product right so that it appeals to the needs and wants of their customer. It can be argued that loyalty to a particularly car brand is not as high as it once as, with drivers becoming more concerned about which car fulfills all their requirements rather than the brand name. One area which manufacturers have been focusing on, which is important to all customers is vehicle safety. When out on the roads it is important to know that the car you are driving will stand up well should the worse happen and you are involved in a crash. Developments in this area over the last years have included better energy absorbing structures, improved seats and airbags. While there is no doubt that the new cars on the roads today are safer than then their predecessors ten to fifteen years ago, crashes still occur which result in injury and death. In order to stay ahead many car manufacturers are now focusing on crash avoidance systems. These systems aim to prevent crashes before they happen rather than protect the car’s occupants when a crash occurs. One of the first crash avoidance systems to be introduced in newer cars was antilock brakes (ABS). This was a new braking system, which took effect when emergency braking was initiated. ABS brakes were designed to ensure that the brakes worked at their most effective in these extreme conditions allowing full steering control to be maintained and reduce the likelihood of skidding. From ABS came the development of more recent technology known as Electronic Stability Control (ESC), which aimed to regain stability in a vehicle that had lost control and began to slide. This system worked through sensors that were able to detect that the car was beginning to slide and had deviated off its intended course. When this problem occurred the ESC would automatically apply braking power to each of the wheels individually in order to divert the car back on to its original course and prevent any further sliding from occurring. This system works particularly well when a driver loses control of a vehicle by driving too quickly round a bend or if they need to take fast evasive action to avoid something in the road. When a car begins to slide or spin it can be very difficult for a driver to recover full control, especially as most people have limited experience of handling this type of maneuver. Whilst neither ABS nor ESC can be a substitute for good driving, statistics for both show that they are effective in helping reduce accidents. This should be a plus point for both consumers and motor Insurance companies alike, and may even be the deciding factor in which cars sell and which don’t.

Oahu, Island Car Trips Outside Waikiki

Most folk’s first trip to Hawaii consist of staying in a high-rise hotel in Waikiki, visiting the beach, enjoying the nightlife, and seeing all the sites in group tours and shuttle buses. This can be quite fun, but without a car you miss a lot.

Most people avoid car rental because traffic is a problem and there is little parking. The island is small, but really crowded. Except for the three freeways that crisscross the island, you can’t call them interstates since there are no bridges to the mainland, there are only two lane roads with low speed limits and lots of other folks trying to get places as well. It is also a common belief that there are actually only two available parking places left on the whole island.

OK, so what’s the problem? You are on vacation. What’s the hurry? And, the goal is to see stuff outside of the tourist bustle of Waikiki. There is always a place to park along the North shore beaches. Hotels usually have underground parking which you often have to pay a little extra for and are tiny and a real adventure trying to squeeze your car into. But, again, it’s your vacation. What’s a little extra cost and adventure is what you are looking for.

Waikiki is much like an amusement park. It’s like Disney World without the rides, but with miles of beach. It is full of sun-screened tourist and half naked young people with sand in their hair dragging surfboards twice their size. There is food and entertainment and lots of shopping. It is so much fun, but also weirdly unreal. Every once in a while you are tempted to rap on one of the walls of one of those finely architectured buildings to make sure there is no fiberglass involved. It’s a surreal world.

If you are curious to find out about the rest of the island, hop in your car, take your time, and enjoy what many others never see. Here are few of the possibilities:

— Drive around the rugged east side of the island. It is a bit of a roller coaster ride along the towering cliffs and rocky shoreline. Stop often and enjoy the natural beauty of wild ocean waves crashing against stony walls producing great geysers of foamy spray.

— Lay for hours on end on a North shore beach, watching surfers battle the endless waves crashing on the sandy shore. Sure you can see surfers at Waikiki, but the waves are wilder and the surfers seem more daring on the North shore.

— Grab a shrimp platter lunch from one of the shrimp trucks just outside of Kahuku. It’s a tasty meal in a rustic setting. It takes a car to get there. I don’t think you can get the tour bus to stop. There is nothing like it in the big city.

— Enjoy some leisurely hours rambling around Hale’iwa, shopping, eating chocolate, shaved ice, or great hand dipped ice creams from one of the funky little shops in this quaint little village. Don’t miss the surfboard painter who plays some cool jazz and blues music with his family in his studio workshop when he is not producing artwork.

— Spend a half-day wandering in the Waimea Valley Audubon Center. There is lush tropical plants and some wildlife and you can even take a dip in the pool at the base of Waimea Falls. It’s kind of like that being stranded in a tropical paradise dream you have every now and again. But it’s only the North shore.

— Hit one of the weekly Aloha Stadium Swap Meets. It’s a giant flea market/sidewalk sales where you can get all those Hawaiian shirts, and other souvenirs for about half what you pay for them downtown. Stuff your trunk and ship them home. You can’t do that if you are riding the bus.

— If you get homesick you can even drive through a fast food place or spend the day at Wal-Mart or the mall. There is always someplace to park at the mall.

Oahu is a pretty small island and the public transportation is really quite good. You can see a lot on the bus and there is lots to see. But with a car you are in total control. This little list tells of only a small sampling of the possible things to do if you are in control of your mobility. The key is to be an explorer. Find your own adventures. Get behind the wheel. It’s vacation.

Buying A Car, Some Tips And Information

“Car buying is, or should be, a calculated decision,”says John Mondin, an auto travel counselor with AAA. The complex and sometimes frightening process of car buying is demystified in a comprehensive guide that covers: How to choose the right car, new/used car-buying strategies, getting a used car bargain, avoiding the pitfalls of leasing, how to shop for insurance.
In addition, Strategies for Smart Car Buyers includes several appendices and a variety of new material to complete the buyer’s research process, including: The acclaimed investigative series, “Confessions of a Car Salesman,” relating insider secrets in an entertaining account of two car dealerships, monthly payment charts and monthly leasing payments, expanded financing section detailing crucial contract dos and don’ts, plus additional commentary throughout text from undercover car salesman Chandler Phillips.
Online new car buying is a quick and easy way to look for a car in the privacy of one′s own home without the pressure of rash buying. Online car buying is a reality now because of the many excellent sites where you can find the car you′ve been looking for. See all the buying and selling articles you can find on avoiding scams and post-sale problems. As most of us know, used-car buying is a business wrought with scams. One of the best innovations in used car buying is the CARFAX website.
Tips
Educate yourself before buying a car, no negotiating prices without going for a test drive! Do you buy nice clothes without trying them on. Arm yourself with knowledge, with these tips, you can confidently walk into a car dealership, ready to be confronted by eager salesmen. More dealers are better: The more dealers you have in your area, the more competition for your business, the higher your odds of getting a good deal. Some helpful guidelines and car buying tips can be found at the Federal Information Center, as well as a wealth of other money related issues.
Information
The good news is that with the advent of the Internet, a world of information — never available to our parents and grandparents — is just a click away. Walking onto a dealer’s lot with no information is like walking into the lion’s den. And relying on a dealer for information is just slightly better. It levels the playing field by giving accurate information to the consumer.
You can also read up on the latest car reviews by browsing the Web as there is literally a wealth of pertinent information available online. Never discuss in a dealership what you can afford on a monthly basis dealers can use that information to structure a car loan to meet or slightly beat your monthly-payment requirements, without addressing the more important issues: the total price of the car and the terms of the loan. To negotiate on price, you must be armed with information about the true value of the car you want with all the options you demand.
A variety of Web sites now offer detailed consumer information comparing the dealer’s invoice cost, what the dealer paid the manufacturer, against the MSRP printed on the window sticker. Important information about automobiles and fuel economy should always be considered. Some helpful guidelines and car buying tips can be found at the Federal Information Center, as well as a wealth of other money related issues. Check it out, you′ll be surprised at the valuable information you′ll find there. They combine extensive industry knowledge, dealership experience, and the power of the Internet to empower the consumer with the information they need to negotiate the best deal. They offer valuable research and information about used cars. You can find out about rebates online whereas before, unless you ask the car salesman, he wouldn’t volunteer the information to you.
Loan
You will get greater flexibility and savings by getting pre-approved for a car loan before shopping for a new or used car. And,if you decide to finance the car, find out what your monthly payment should be by shopping for a car loan before going to the dealership. You may discover that getting a loan will cost less than financing directly. If you do find a loan that you like, it’s recommended that you get approved for it before buying the car. The question you really must ask yourself at this point isn’t how much car you can afford but how much car loan you can afford. That determines how much car loan you′ll be able to cover comfortably every month for the next three to four years. The next step is to talk to your bank or credit union to find out what rates they’re currently charging on new-car loans for 36 and 48 months. There are many ways to find the best loan for you regardless of your credit standing. The prospective car buyer can also look into current interest rates on car loans ahead of time and determine which way they should proceed with regard to financing the vehicle. So be sure to follow these steps do your research on the car, research available loan rates and programs online, check your impact on your insurance, and then reach a dealer about the car you want.
Final Thoughts
The world of car buying is changing rapidly. Online new car buying is a quick and easy way to look for a car in the privacy of one′s own home without the pressure of sales people pushing you into rash buying. The key to successful car buying is to meet your wants and needs within your budget.

What Everybody Ought To Know About Selling Car DVD Players On EBay, Top Tips For Resellers

Plenty of sellers have tried plenty of different things to make their car DVD player listings on eBay into irresistible sale magnets. But when it all comes down to it they could lift their sales and increase hits simply by following these three guidelines:1) Attention to detail2) Attention to detail3) Attention to detailThe way to a great listing on eBay is to simply ensure you go into as much detail as possible in every aspect of your listing. The headlines, the body-text, the visuals, the peripherals, the support documents, all have to be carefully thought out to ensure your listing is picked up by car enthusiasts and search engines. The best stores are not always the ones with the best price or the widest range of products, they happen to have the maximum amount of detailing for products they list. Specifically you have to ‘nail’ three points to make a great eBay listing for car DVD players.* The headline* The photos* The body** Creating Headlines That Grab Eyeballs **A buyer on eBay is faced with an overwhelming variety of products to choose from. For example: Just the Car DVD section alone has over 12,000 product listings. The buyer will probably choose to look at a few stores based on the headlines that he sees on the listing page. The headline then becomes equal to your store shop window in the physical world. What you put up there decides if the buyer is going to come in, or bypass you for the store down the line. The best headlines are descriptive and try to give as much information about the product as possible. These are some examples of what a typical car DVD headline should look like when listing on eBay:7″ touch-screen DVD Player, Double Din Car Radio Stereј-DIN 7 Inch Touch Screen Car Media System and GPS NavigatorLarge 7 Inch Touchscreen Bluetooth GPS Car DVD Player (1-DIN)The advantages of these headlines are two-fold: For the buyer they are incredibly descriptive and give a good idea of what is behind the link. For the search engines they capture as many of the relevant search words that a buyer might use to get to car DVD players. This ensures higher listing in the search pages.** Pictures Are Worth A Thousand Words **If a picture is worth a thousand words, then 10 pictures will go a long way to get the sale made, right? Pictures are critical to a successful listing. Buyers do not get to touch and feel the product they are purchasing, so it is critical to try and replicate the experience of holding and feeling the item as closely as possible. This can be done through pictures and, if possible, videos. You should ideally include shots from of the product face, side back and the look in different positions. For example: if the screen slots in, then how does the product look with the screen in and out. Zoom in to show details, like a card reader or a touch-screen app. It is also important to show the accessories and components that come with the package. ** Great Bodies Sell Products **Apart from the headlines and photographs it is critical that the body text of the car DVD player is as detailed as possible. Again the reason for detailing is simple: The buyer is not “touching and feeling” the product so more text will reassure them more that they are getting a worthy item. Text also clearly states what your product can and cannot do. For example: “Can read VCD, DVD, SVCD”, is a clear indicator of the types of discs that can be loaded onto the car DVD player.Adding FAQs also helps the buyer get all the information in one place. They also add to the credibility of the site, and help establish you as a person with the relevant product knowledge.Taking the time to create the perfect pitch will go a long way in ensuring your product stands out among the thousands of listings on eBay. A buyer will eventually go with the product that appeals to the heart and the mind. The heart is attracted by pictures, while the mind goes for the detailing. Getting both in is a killer combo. Now you know how to write a killer description for your car DVD player find the players that will sell like hotcakes. Visit Chinavasion.com now or paste this URL into your address bar: http://www.chinavasion.com/index.php/cName/car-dvd-players/
